Life is better on a bike!

Spinner Time

The one redeeming thing spinner workouts have over actual riding is listening to music. Today’s workout consisted of tunes from Adele and David Gray.

Music helps with monotony and effort, particularly on the intervals, and with 75:00 on the spinner like I did today, I need all the help available.

I can’t watch television because I don’t ride hard enough. I check email, Facebook, etc. only during warm up/down, never during the actual workout. Again, because I get distracted and pretty soon my heart rate is 100 or below – at that point – what’s the point?

I guess I’m easily distracted.

In my outdoor rides in the past 4 weeks or so I’ve noticed a payoff I believe from the spinner. My out of the saddle climbing is better (can hold for longer and less increase in HR) and when seated I can push a bigger gear while still maintaining my cadence. Basically I think my legs are getting stronger. I’ve also been doing a little running which would also build leg strength.

I say all this to motivate myself to continue…

Great posts Susan! Especially the health benefits of excersise.

I get distracted pretty easily too riding inside. I usually try and listen to a “club mix” to encourage me to ride faster/harder. TV or reading slows me down. I’ve been mixing in the 2 different elliptical machines to break up the long hours.

Just wanted to leave a comment and let ya know I was still reading your blog. I think your doing a great job!

Side note I’ve tried the “spinning” workout once. My gym has a tv/dvd player with spinning tapes. I will admit I didn’t do through the whole set up etc. I find myself going back over to the regular upsight stationary as the spinning bike doesn’t have rpm, distance, heart rate. Well it doesn’t have anything other than a resistance knob. 🙂

Keep up the good work you are an inspiration!

Hey Bobby, I appreciate the shout out, as I’ve said before blogging sometimes feels like I’m talking to myself. 🙂

Ellipticals are nice, I use one too. As far as spinners, our’s has heart rate, rpm, average speed, mileage, everything but power – which I wish it had.

Thanks for the nice words and happy riding/exercising!
