Day 4 of the 30 Days of Biking challenge brought a day of sunshine and white puffy clouds, along with cool temperatures.
Today I rode Condor to the hair salon and grocery store then home again, taking the long way back. I like running errands on my bike and especially in street clothes. I love encountering the friendly drivers โ you go first, no you, after all you’re riding a bike – I am serious! Waves, smiles and courteous behavior from all involved. I love rides like this and wonder why they can’t all be.
Cool reflection of a similarly cool cyclist, eh.
I rode to the same grocery that I was returning from when I got *the ticket* last year. I thought about testing out the new affirmative defense law, but it was such a pleasant and peaceful day, I thought lets not. ๐
I rode by the municipal court building where I was able to get the fine waived for said ticket.
I waited at the light where said offense occurred. Notice the sign stating that bicycles should use the crosswalk – if that big black arrow had been there last year I would have seen it!
Day 4 mileage was just under 11 miles.
There are a series of very cool posters promoting cyclist’s safety launched today by 100copies. I discovered 100copies several months ago and posted about them. I bought one of their posters too, a black and white abstract of a bike. Super cool print.
I love this new work they have created and especially love that each poster is designed to increase awareness among cyclists and drivers to promote the safety of cyclists. Check out how cool they are below.

Today we launched a series of Safety Cycling Posters in association with the LTA and Singapore Road Safety Council. A big thank you to all the sponsors who have made this possible. If you need the hires of the poster to print it out, email me at [email protected] I will send you the link to download it. If cycling safety is important to you and your loved ones, please do help to share.
A busy day today, so I didn’t get a chance to ride until late this afternoon. There was a break in the rain in the early afternoon, but couldn’t ride then so by the time I rode the weather radar map looked like this:
My so-called ride, was up the street and back pedaling straight from the protection of the garage where my husband was standing so he could take a picture of me. I’m sure he was shaking his head questioning my judgment as he took this:
While he was waiting on my soggy return he took this of standing water:
I took this of the rain gauge โ hey I was already wet so what the-
My so-called ride was a couple of minutes, probably less than a mile sort of pit-i-ful.
For you folks who live in normal places where it rains, lakes have water, water isn’t rationed year-round: don’t judge.
Tomorrow we are supposed to see the sun!
Everything yesterday was, today wasn’t. Yesterday was sunny and warm, today was rainy and cold with gusty north winds.
I also managed to pick the time when it started raining the hardest, along with a little thunder for special effect.
I didn’t ride far, or for long, but I rode. Most importantly, I had fun. So I am pedaling down the road, with the rain pelting me and I’m cold — but I’m smiling! I never seem to remember how much fun riding in dismal weather is or I would do it more often. Seriously, it’s fun! There is something about being out there when it is cold, gray and wet that is kind of thrilling and invigorating. It happened on our rides in Denver last year too. It was cold and rainy and I was sick, but we rode everyday and it was a blast!
I would never have ridden today if it wasn’t for my pledge to ride every day, so thank you 30daysofbiking.
